TERROIRS D’ALTITUDE

Terrasses du Larzac

“Some of the most exciting wines can be found at high altitudes in the South of France. This region is still a real insider secret, and its potential certainly shows in this bold, punchy red”

Wine Information

About the wine

70% of this blend is Syrah, so you can expect high tannins and a full body. Grenache and Mourvèdre again bring alcohol and black-fruit flavours respectively. The lofty vineyard heights retain the acidity and bring a longer ripening period, so it's powerful yet fresh and complex. Try it with herb-crusted red meats, like lamb chops.

About the producer

J.M Aujoux began in 1938 and have forged their expertise over the decades since. They found great success in some of France's top regions, including Beaujolais and Burgundy, before moving on to this fascinating region.

About the region

Terrasses du Larzac was officially recognised as an appellation in 2005. It's situated to the north west of Montpellier and forms a V shape that's crossed by the Hérault. This cooling river and high altitudes make for a unique growing environment in the Languedoc. And the full-bodied, intense reds made here are making waves with those in the know.
