DOMAINE DU TIX
Les Grandes Pointes
"It wouldn't be the perfect French selection for me without a gloriously indulgent Viognier. And the historic estate behind this one is absolutely fascinating"
ELIZABETH KELLY MW
About the wine
This is made from three parcels of Viognier grapes. The first is harvested early, in August, to bring punchy flavours, and the second creates a rounder, creamier character. The third is made from almost over-ripe grapes harvested late in the season. They bring a velvety texture that makes it deliciously rich and great with lightly spiced dishes, like sushi.
About the producer
Domaine du Tix is bathed in sunlight almost year round, and it sits 350 metres above sea level. This abundant sunshine is perfect for grape ripening, and the altitude brings cool nights. This means these Viognier grapes maintain their balancing acidity.
About the region
Vaucluse was once the garden of the Roman Gaul and, centuries later, the refuge to pilgrims who'd climb 100 metres upstream to the Chapel of Notre-Dame-des- Anges to pray for a generous harvest. Today, you can still find coins bearing the effigy of Caesar between the vines.
