DOMAINE SAINT ROSE

Le Pinacle Chardonnay

“It might seem strange to include two of the best UK producers here. But Charles and Ruth are continuously exceeding my expectations at their Languedoc estate. And this, their flagship white, shows the exciting face of modern French Chardonnay”

Wine Information

About the wine

This is made purely from grapes grown by Charles and Ruth Simpson on the Domaine Saint Rosé estate. It's named 'Le Pinacle', after the structural peak of their estate, as the couple consider it their finest Chardonnay. It's aged for a year in oak, partially on its lees, to bring textured flavours of cream and vanilla to your glass. Try it with spiced roasted cauliflower steaks.

About the producer

Charles and Ruth Simpson quit their high-flying corporate jobs in 2002 to chase the winemaking dream. They took a risk in buying a number of hectares in a lesser-known area of the South of France. They've reaped the rewards since, winning a number of awards and receiving acclaim from some of the most respected wine critics.

About the region

In Languedoc's warm climate, Chardonnay grapes develop tropical and stone-fruit flavours. Interestingly, Charles and Ruth reject the restrictions that they would need to follow to gain the arguably more prestigious appellation status. This allows them to create wine as they wish.
