CANTINA DI MONTEFORTE
‘Clivus’ Soave Classico
“Soave is possibly one of the most famous Italian whites. It reached the peak of its fame in the 80s but this bottle demonstrates that it’s still more than worth a look-in. This bottle is a fantastically modern take on traditional Italian winemaking, made by a highly-respected producer.”

Wine Information
About the wine
The wine is a blend of Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave grapes. The Garganega grape brings blossom and almond notes as well as Soave’s distinctive dry finish, while Trebbiano di Soave brings inviting freshness and aromas of golden apple. ‘Classico’ on the label indicates that the wine is from the area that was the wine’s original heartland. Today it’s the place to find its finest quality.
About the producer
Established in 1952, Cantina di Monteforte was formed by a group of local grape growers and winemakers in their shared pursuit of protecting their land. This Soave Classico was made in collaboration with Matt Thompson – a talented viticulturist who was named ‘White Winemaker of the Year’ at the 2008 International Wine Challenge.
About the region
The rich basaltic lava in the Soave Classico foothills is mineral-rich and perfect for growing grapes packed with complex flavour. The vines are up to 70 years old and grow at up to 150 metres above sea level on striking hillsides. The maturity of the vines leads to low yields of intensely flavoured grapes, while the high altitude contributes to a vital stroke of fresh acidity in the wine.
