Wine Information
About the wine
Grillo is an essential Italian white wine with roots firmly in Sicilian land. The Grillo grapes are chilled once they’ve been picked to retain their vibrant aromatics. The wine is then rested on its lees (natural yeast particles) – this smoothens the texture and introduces extra depth to the flavour.
About the producer
Santa Tresa was first established in 1697, making it one of Sicily’s oldest wineries. It was acquired by a brother-and sister team in 2001 and has a fantastic reputation as a specialist in indigenous Sicilian grapes.
About the region
Santa Tresa’s vineyards benefit from long sun- filled days that plump the grapes full of intense flavour, while gentle sea breezes have a cooling effect which slows down the ripening. The longer a growing season is, the richer the aromas.
