CANTINE GEMMA
‘Brunito’ Nebbiolo
“Nebbiolo is one of the most important grapes known throughout the whole of Italy and is behind some of the world’s most sought-after wines – Barolo and Barbaresco come to mind. This unique expression, which comes from a highly respected winery, is not to be overlooked.”

Wine Information
About the wine
The Nebbiolo grape is known for its high tannins and high acidity. This means that when it’s treated to the right conditions and winemaker the result is a fantastically balanced red wine that’s both expressive and fresh. This wine has a great potential for ageing.
About the producer
Cantine Gemma was founded in 1978 by Silvano Piacentini and Giacomo Bologna. Prior to this, Giacomo famously founded a winery that supplied bottles to the Vatican. Cantine Gemma is now run by Silvano’s son Luigi, with ultra-talented Giorgia Barbera as head winemaker.
About the region
The winery is situated in the middle of Langhe’s picturesque Serralunga d’Alba. It tends to be flatter than other areas of the region, meaning that the grapes are easier to manage. This results in higher yields and more consistent harvests.
