Wine Information
About the wine
This wine is made purely of Susumaniello – characterful red-skinned grapes with aromas of red berries and fresh plum in youth that display more peppery, cocoa aromas with age. It’s treated to both French and American oak to smoothen its texture. French oak gives it sweet spice notes, while American oak introduces warm vanilla aromas.
About the producer
This is made by a branch of Italy’s Farnese group by the name of Vigneti di Salento. Production is managed by a team of winemakers with the assistance of renowned consultant and winemaker Alberto Antonini, who has been named one of the top 5 winemakers in the world by Decanter.
About the region
The vineyards of Zolla Susumaniello grow in a warm and dry area of Puglia’s Salento Peninsula, where the clay-limestone soil helps vines to stay cooler during the very hot summer season. There’s a significant difference in day and night-time temperatures here, and this brings a balancing acidity to the wine.
