Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore
“Valpolicella Ripasso is one of Italy’s wine icons – it’s bold, food-friendly and uses the age-old technique of grape drying. This is an unparalleled expression from a widely appreciated family operation that achieves the best from its vines through sheer respect for them.”

About the wine
Valpolicella Ripasso is made from fresh Corvina grapes which are fermented before being re- fermented with semi-dried ex-Amarone grape skins. The dried grapes add a touch of sweetness and body, making for this famously bold and flavourful style.
About the producer
The Tezza family vineyards were established in 1960 by Giovanni and Virginia, and have since been handed down through the family to the third generation – cousins Flavio, Vanio and Federico. In 1998 a huge replanting operation took place to convert all their vineyards to organic practices. Today, the Tezza family have become leaders in organic production and their meticulous care of the vines can be seen in their consistently excellent wine quality.
About the region
The vines can be found in Valpantena Valley – an area named ‘Valley of the Gods’ by the ancient Greeks. Its soils are rich in limestone, giving great purity of flavour to the Corvina grapes. Fresh, dry winds come down from the mountainous terrains and keep the vines free of disease and allowing them to reach optimum ripeness.
