About the wine
This is an artisanal limited-production wine made from 100% Garganega grapes – an indigenous Italian variety known for its stone-fruit and floral aromas. Unlike many traditional productions, the white wine is left in contact with its own grape skins for at least 48 hours before being left on its lees (a natural byproduct of grape fermentation) for 6 months. This enhances the flavour, structure and texture of the wine.
About the producer
Cavazza is family-run, headed by winemaker Giancarlo Cavazza. It was founded in 1928 by Giancarlo’s great-grandparents, Augusta and Giovanni. The family have been growing grapes for almost a century. And today, they use innovative vineyard techniques to maintain their sustainability certification.
About the region
While its neighbour, Soave, shot to fame in the 1980s, Gambellara all too often flies under the radar. Its Classico zone is where you’ll find the oldest, most traditional vineyards. And you’ll taste the benefits in this bottle.
