RIO FLORIANO

Ribolla Gialla

“Italy has thousands of wine expressions to choose from, but Ribolla Gialla is particularly notable. It’s an ancient indigenous grape variety and an integral part of Italy’s rich winemaking history.”

Wine Information

About the wine

Ribolla Gialla is a white grape grown almost exclusively in Friuli. It’s known for its floral and stone fruit flavours – characteristics so desired that this wine has been left unoaked to allow them to shine.

About the producer

The Rio Floriano winery is run by siblings Ivan and Orieta Muzic. Their grandparents bought the property and five precious hectares of Collio land in 1963. The family initially ran a small operation making house wine, but today it’s achieved new heights and become recognised internationally.

About the region

Collio is a sub-region of Friuli, where Austria meets Italy in its northeastern corner. Cool sea breezes and consistent sunshine create a unique microclimate that gives grapes a slow, steady ripening period so that once they reach fruition they’re brimming with intense, aromatic flavour.
